Customer Description

The web-based training (WBT) for familiarisation with Terminal 3 is designed to give all employees at Frankfurt Airport an early insight into their future routes through the terminal—even before its official opening. This digital training provides the theoretical foundations and an overview of the terminal’s layout, which will later be complemented by in-person walkthroughs in small groups.

The web-based training (WBT) for familiarisation with Terminal 3 is designed to give all employees at Frankfurt Airport an early insight into their future routes before the official opening. The digital training provides the theoretical foundation and an overview of the terminal layout, which is then followed by a guided on-site tour in small groups.

Project Challenges

A particular challenge was to provide learners with a geographical overview of Terminal 3 while it was still under construction. In close collaboration with subject matter experts on the client side, we developed a highly intuitive and interactive format tailored to the target audience—based on the existing 3D model and supplemented with custom-designed graphics.

Project Highlights

One of the defining features of the project is the highly immersive, game-based design of the employee pathways. To achieve this, various elements inspired by video games were incorporated, such as an inventory system, optional in-game events and achievements, fitting sound effects, and a minimap to support better orientation.

Learners can discover the new features of Terminal 3 within a familiar airport process that is likely well known to both staff and passengers.
